One War To Rule Them All

It's odd when you think about it. The Lord of the Rings has as one of it's central narratives a massive world conflict, a fantasy version of World War II. Most LOTR games, however, focus on the journey side of Tolkien's work and neglect the war aspects. We saw our first glimpses of large battles in EA's The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. We'll be really getting our hands dirty next year when VU Games releases War of the Ring.

War of the Ring, developed by Liquid Entertainment, will be the first 3-D Real Time Strategy Game set in Tolkien's legendary fantasy world. With both single and multi-player campaigns, War of the Ring looks to be shaping up to be a real treat. This will also be one of the first time players will be given the option of controlling the legions of Sauron's viscious forces. I think I've saved Middle Earth enough times, its time to flay some hobbits. Be on the lookout for War of the Ring in 2004.
