The third game in the Broken Sword series is getting ready to come out, and The Adventure Company has made a game that will reshape the way we think about the genre. Broken Sword 3: Sleeping Dragon is done in a rich 3-D and beautiful third person style.
During the development of Broken Sword, The Adventure Company got some grief over the fact that they were taking the title into the three-dimensional world (the previous versions of Broken Sword were done in a cartoon style), but after playing through several parts of the game, I can tell you that this is an adventure game to remember. The puzzles that need to be solved are rather straightforward, and with some thought and the easy to use icon system, you will find yourself quickly immersed in the experience.
Broken Sword 3: Sleeping Dragon allows you to interface with the world through icons that are mapped to four buttons (the current default being the arrow keys). Each button corresponds to a button on the lower right corner of the screen, and will do different actions depending on the icon that appears on the button. In the inventory, you are allowed to combine different items, and will need to in order to get through the puzzles.
This game breaks the standard and old-hat style of the adventure genre, and because of that it will be on your mind for a long time.
