Unfortunately for Sea Dogs fans, there will be no Sea Dogs 2. However, fortunately for Sea Dogs fans, there will be Pirates of the Caribbean, which is exactly the same thing, except for a few undead pirates thrown in here and there. The developers decided to cut a deal with the film makers and slap the movie's title on the package, probably saving the game from being scrapped altogether, as production time was approaching infinity and the release date was approaching zero.
All of the cool features from the first game are in here, including dramatic sea battles and stunning graphics. This time around, however, you can not only explore islands and coastal towns on foot, but you can engage in sword and pistol duels. This type of combat will also be available during ship to ship boarding, and your crew will be alongside you during your fight, so now they can do something more than just raise the sails.
Sea Dogs players need not worry about what Akella has done with their game. Pirates of the Caribbean promises to be all that Sea Dogs was and then some. Despite lacking a Multiplayer mode, which the graphics almost make up for (yes, they are that stunning), pirate lovers are in for a good time this summer. Look for it on PC and Xbox.
