Following the announcement of the release of The Lost Vikings for the GBA, Blizzard was quickly swarmed with questions and inquiries about other popular classic titles, namely Blackthorne and Rock N' Roll Racing. The company was quick to respond, and much to the public's relief, both games are going to appear on the handheld sometime before the holiday season.
For newcomers to these old time favorites, lets catch you up to speed. Rock N' Roll Racing not only features multiple race tracks, but also a classic soundtrack that was a staple of the good old 16 bit days. This isn't just a regular racer, either. The game takes a demolition approach to the gameplay, allowing players to attack their opponents with unique weaponry in order to get ahead of the pack.
Blackthorne is simply a classic side-scroller done extremely well. Very similar to games like Flashback, this 2D action game features a lethal commando with brute strength and animal cunning. Along with unlimited ammo and a sharp wit, you take Kyle Blackthorne on an Orc slaying rampage to avenge the murder of his father.
Given that The Lost Vikings is just about a perfect Super Nintendo port, there is no reason to fear that either of these two games will suffer from feature cuts. Classic gaming fans will be overjoyed when they are released, and we can only hope other companies will take Blizzard's re-release strategy as an example.
