Back In The Water

With over 1 million units sold, there's really no reason to be surprised at this early sequel to Socom: US Navy SEALs. There's also no reason to believe that this sequel won't capture an online console community the same way its predecessor did. With the developers getting input from Naval Special Warfare Command, Socom 2 is likely to blow away all the high-water marks left by the first game.

Once again, you are put in command of a US Navy SEAL team, arguably the most elite fighting force on the planet. Team combat is key here, so the headset will be back and more important than ever. 12 single player missions, as well as a few new Multiplayer modes that can handle up to 16 players at a time are going to be included in Socom 2, ensuring that there is no shortage of action. You'll also get to coordinate some of your missions with other countries' counter-terrorist forces, such as the British SAS and the Russian Spetznaz.

You'll have to wait until November to get your hands on this jewel, but I assure you it is worth the wait. Put it on your wish list or beg your parents or do whatever you have to do to get this game, because Socom 2 is going to change your console experience forever. And with the release of the new PS2 bundled with the network adapter, there should be no shortage of people around the world scrambling for online play with this title. If you loved the first Socom, start saving some money. If you haven't experienced this game yet, this is a perfect place to get your feet wet, and you won't want to get out of the water for a while.
