FIRST LOOK:
CMX 2001 (THQ)

A new and improved version of THQ's Championship Motocross (CMX) is coming to the Playstation and GameBoy Color this fall, answering to the name of 'CMX 2001 featuring Ricky Carmichael'. Who's Ricky? He would be the AMA National Champion 3 times over! In addition to Ricky, there are 30 playable riders to choose from in CMX 2001. Still not quite right? Utilize the handy 'Create-a-Rider' mode and get it 'just right'.

CMX 2001 boasts a slew of licenses: ESPN, 16 bike manufacturers and at least two major Motocross official circuits, including the Loretta Lynn Amateur National. Offering 8 modes of play, including multi-player championship and freestyle, CMX 2001 should be able to hold even your attention. THQ claims that the bikes themselves will have more customization options than ever, and a 'Real Motocross Dynamics' engine which is supposed to provide a 'true feel' during each race.

As for the tunes? Well, soundtrack and band license details are undisclosed as of this writing, but THQ promises you won't be disappointed. The Playstation version features hi-rez graphics and Dual Shock/Analog support, and should showcase the 'phat' tricks, changing weather conditions and tuned physics engine nicely. Championship Motocross 2001 is scheduled to slam onto store shelves this September.
