SUMMONER (VOLITION) - PREPARE TO BE SUMMONED...

Volition, Inc., the wonderful minds behind the Freespace saga and the early Descents, is bringing us an RPG epic in the form of Summoner. Appearing on the Mac, PC, and PS2, Summoner is promising an RPG in the grand style, as the players quest for the rings of the Summoners to save the kingdom. Cliched plot, perhaps, but Volition's promises are anything but cliche -- insanely cool graphics, deep story, sweet special effects, a battle system that gets more complex as you go, easing you in (a la Vagrant Story), scads of things to slay and things to slay them with, and five-character parties. Indeed, the PC and Mac version will allow up to four players to join together and kick some butt. This game looks gorgeous, and promises to be a smash hit RPG. Keep your eyes peeled.
