Guitammer Company, Inc. introduced the ButtKicker, a low-frequency transducer designed for use with any DVD, CD player or Dolby Headphone system, that produces true infrasonic shaking and sound reproduction. Guitammer claims that the ButtKicker can literally reproduce the 'feeling' of sounds such as earthquakes, thunderstorms, rocket launchers, waves, explosions, etc.'The use of low frequency sound via large sound systems and shaking/tactile devices is increasing at an accelerated pace,' said Mark Luden, president and chief executive officer, The Guitammer Company. 'Along with seeing and hearing, low frequency sound adds a third sense ... it enables people to feel the action and to bridge the gap more fully into the world of virtual reality.'ButtKicker technology is based on a suspended magnetic system, which is much more powerful and musically responsive than other forms of bass frequency audio devices. In addition, you get true low frequency response and clarity with a range of 5-200 Hz, reaching far lower than other bass systems. The ButtKicker comes complete with one high-powered driver, a quality 1000-watt amplifier, free music sample CD, extensive owner's manual, technical support and a two-year warranty, all at an MSRP of $699, plus shipping and handling.
This year at E3, a new version designed for computer gamers, known as the 'personal seat shaker' was introduced at the Logitech booth. Slated to ship towards the end of the year or in early 2001, the 'personal seat shaker' should retail around $149 to $199.
Now you can enjoy the same bass reproduction as is used by Barbara Streisand, The Backstreet Boys and Disney's new interactive theater at Epcot Center (scheduled to open in 2002).
