With a script penned by Jordan Reicheck, best known for his work on ?Ren & Stimpy?, Crash Tag Team Racing combines fast-paced, kart racing action with traditional platforming elements.
After being humiliated at the end of Twinsanity, Dr. Cortex returns to his Iceberg Lair to scheme another plot to rid the world of that meddling bandicoot, Crash. He finally comes up with the plan to invite Crash to a seemingly friendly race competition where he plans to destroy the racetrack and crush the hapless bandicoot under the rubble.
One of CTTR's primary gameplay twists is what is known as "Clashing", a mode that allows you to ram into vehicles on the track and combine with them. Once combined, this new super-vehicle will allow you to use weapons from both of the original vehicle, allowing you to either take the turret and blast other competitors or take over driving duties. While in single-player mode, the A.I. will take over one of the jobs. In multiplayer, two players will be able to combine and take over each position.
When not in his vehicle, Crash will be able to take on platforming adventures and have access to all of his trademark moves. While on foot, Crash can collect upgrades for his kart, unlock bonus tracks and get tips from other characters.
Crash Tag Team Racing speeds onto all major home consoles, as well as the DS, later this year. |
