The popular book series Left Behind, by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, is being transformed into a PC RTS videogame called Left Behind: Eternal Forces. You play as part of the Tribulation Force, a small groups of folks opposing the Global Community Peacekeepers, which is run by the Antichrist himself. Throughout the game, which takes place in a finely modeled rendition of New York City, you will recruit people to join the Tribulation Force. Prayer will strengthen your troops and if you don't keep your spirit points up, morale decreases and you may lose neutral members to the side of evil. Of course, on the flip side, you can also recruit evildoers as well. They have to keep their spirit points low and they do this by cursing.

Money and food management plays a role here as well, so those who like to micromanage will find that appealing. Sides will engage in fiendish battles, although this is not a bloody game. There is a healthy single player experince to be found, and up to 8 players can participate in a multiplayer online game, choosing whether to play as the Tribulation Force or the Global Community Peacekeepers.

There are over 30 units types such as Prayer Warrior, Hellraiser, Spies, Special Forces and Battle Tanks, and each individual in the game is truly an individual. There is a background story for each one (and we are talking about a lot of characters here), so there's lots of reading here for those who want to learn more. It's designed to make you feel for each unit so that if and when they are lost in battle, they are more than just a sprite on the screen.

Look for this one this Fall. Should be interesting, especially for fans of the book series.
