SCEA Bring Fresh Ideas and Sequels to the PSP

SCEA had a few sequels to show on the PSP this year at E3, along with some fresh, new titles as well.

The most unique was a game called LocoRoco, available this September and being developed by SCEJ. It reminded me an awful lot of Katamari Damacy with its vibrant and colorful levels filled with wacky designs. Your goal is to get the LocoRoco to the desired goal by using the L and R shoulder buttons to tilt and roll them. The LocoRoco are cute little creatures, but they can also be combined together to form a bigger LocoRoco when the level calls for it. Happy music and interesting character designs are sure to please fans of kooky Japanese games.

Gangs of London is another new game being developed by SCEE's London studio. It's a graphic novel style game which takes place amongst the criminal underworld in London. Thse guys developed The Getaway and Gangs of London had a very similar feel.

In Lemmings, the old becomes new again. Navigate and guide the little guys to safety, just as you did in old school gaming. We'll have a full review up shortly.

There's also Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, which you can catch up on here. If racing is your thing, check out ATV Offroad Fury Pro, where you can not only race ATVs, but also MX bikes, buggies, and Trophy Trucks on 64 new tracks. Up to 4 players are supported wirelessly and it also has cross compatibility with ATV Offroad Fury 4 for the PS2.

Killzone is back with Killzone: Liberation, due out this October. You'll once again find yourself battling the Hellghast to rescue hostages in this intense action game. Online and offline missions will be available.

For you sports fans out there, NBA '07 hits shelves this October. In addition to the standard modes of play, you can look forward to all new mini-games including a rhythm dunking game, plus a Conquest mode where you can take your team and challenge NBA teams across the country. Also added is a Pick-Up mode where you can play against 10 randomly selected NBA players.

Also in the sports arena is World Tour Soccer '06, lots of soccer love in one tiny UMD. Redesigned for the PSP, you can challege the world's best players from Africa, Asia, North America, South America and Europe. There are 10 new challenges and via Ad Hoc, up to 4 players can take part. Via game sharing, players can compete head-to-head with just one copy of the game.

Last but not least is SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2 set to hit shelves in the Fall. What's new here is non-linear mission progression and a persistent performance rating. You'll be able to use "Command Points" earned to purchase supply drops, weapons upgrades and in-game air strikes. Using "Local Influence" can grant you access to additional info from the locals, along with access to black market weapons.

We'll keep you posted with a full review of each of these as they release.
