Naughty Dog is developing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune exclusively for the PS3, so gamers who are jonesing for a beautifully rendered action adventure complete with treasure hunting and guns blazing have reason to rejoice. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune begins with the discovery of a 400 year old clue located in the coffin of Sir Francis Drake - a clue to the location of the famed treasure of El Dorado. Nathan Drake, a descendant of Sir Francis, embarks on a perilous journey to an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean to find the fabled loot. Things go horribly wrong and Nathan is left stranded on the island. Soon, he and his group find themselves fighting for their lives and hopefully, the treasure as well.
Players will control Nathan as he discovers clues using maps and artifacts, scales 400 year old ruins, engages in shootouts with mercenaries and generally creates mayhem for others searching for the treasure. In the demo I saw, Nathan's reactions to situations are highly realistic. He'll duck for cover and reload his gun, all the while dodging bullets. Nathan's companions will utilize cooperative play mechanics and gun play to help him out during fire fights.
The game looks gorgeous and seems just the thing to tide over gaming spelunkerers until the new Indiana Jones game is released. |
