With the upcoming release of a new Star Wars movie (and subsequent TV series), LucasArts is putting out two games to enhance the Clone Wars events.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels is what fans have been asking for since the Wii’s remote, motion-based input system was revealed several years ago, lightsaber fighting on the Wii. With the Wii-mote, players will be able to run through specific, memorable fights from the Clone Wars movie and TV series set between Episodes II and III. You will be able to fight as Jedi and Sith as characters like Anakin Skywalker, General Grievous (okay, so he isn’t technically a Sith), Ahsoka Tano (Anakin’s new Padawan) and Asajj Ventress - all are available for you to master. Each character sports a unique fighting style, but the Wii’s motion system will let you master it no matter what your gaming experience.

But lightsabers aren’t the only tools at your disposal. You will be able to exploit your surroundings by slicing down pillars and force throwing them at your opponent, and all on major Star Wars locations like Tatooine and Teth.

The other Clone Wars games is for the DS. Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance will let you pair up various Jedi in team–based co-op missions that will let you use your stylus in new and innovative paired-attacks. This game will feature an original story that will expand the events from the movie, and playing as different pairs of characters will unlock new areas, collectibles and experiences.

Jedi Alliance also features drop-in/drop-out co-op play, so friends nearby will get to join in the fun as well.

Both games are slated to come out this Holiday Season. Lightsaber Duels is being developed by Krome Studios, while the DS game is coming from the LucasArts Singapore studio.
