Easiest Achievements Ever

Company: THQ
Product: Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth

Are you looking for a quick boost in your Gamerscore? Maybe you want to give your little brother (or yourself) a cheap gift this holiday season, how about 1000 gamer points? I had heard how easy it is to get all of the achievements in Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth before actually getting the game for review, so when I got it in my hands, the first thing I did was try out this trick. And yes, it is by far the easiest 1000 points I have ever heard of. Granted, if you're talking about one Achievement, The Simpsons: The Game still takes tops with its "Press Start to Play" 5 points, but with this trick, you can nab them all within the first five minutes of gameplay.

So how do you do it? Instead of gaining Achievements by working your way through levels, this game awards five different Achievements based on increasing your combo counter. At a hit count of 10 and 20, you gain 150 points each, at 30 and 40 you earn 200 points a piece and once you up the counter to 50, you get the last 300 points.

In most of the game, this is actually a challenge. Most parts have you taking on three or four enemies and by the time you get to the next wave, your time is up and the combo counter is reset. There is one place in the game that will send just the right number of people at you at just the right rate. Unfortunately for The Burning Earth, its right at the beginning.

As soon as you get control of Aang, simply run to the left wall of the arena, turn around and use your air blast, that's the (B) button, repeatedly. It travels through enemies so you will typically get a couple of hits with each press. You might have to adjust your position a couple of times in case someone gets knocked to one side and he isn't in the path of the attack, but that's pretty much the extent of what you have to do. By the time the first wave is done (marked by an in-game cut scene), you should have the first two Achievements. Once the action starts up again, you will have to run to the side again and restart your combo counter, but it won't be long before the last three achievements are unlocked and you are 1000 Gamer points richer.

While I enjoy Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth, it obviously isn't for everyone. I can already imagine the rentals on this game skyrocketing just to get some cheap points. If you are already planning on getting this game, you might as well get the 360 version since you will get the added bonus of guaranteed points.
