Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force: Meat, Sleep, and Furies

Company: Idea Factory

It’s almost like we’re caught in a time loop that happened because someone wished to save someone. Well, that beats being a lazy good for nothing. Too bad that’s exactly what we’ll be in Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force. Fang, you better get motivated, buddy.

Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force is like an updated version of the original Fairy Fencer F for the PlayStation 4. Much of the original story stays unchanged, but there are a few subtle changes to the story that veterans of the first game will recognize. Basically, you take control of a very lazy man named Fang who frees a Fury containing the fairy Eryn. Together, they set out to collect all the Furies and revive the Goddess, while gaining new friends and allies along the way.

Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force features much of the same gameplay from Fairy Fencer F. Players control Fang in the overworld and run around as him hunting down the Furies. This time around, you’re really going to be packing firepower in battle. You’ll be allotted six characters on the battlefield at any time instead of three, like in the previous game, and you may switch between them as they see fit. Battle is a turn-based affair, so every character on the battlefield takes turns performing an action. Battle ends whenever you defeat all enemies present or each member of your team falls, but hopefully you’ll get a decisive victory.

Exploration will be a familiar endeavor to many players. As the story progresses, you’ll learn of more and more locations that house Furies. It’s your job to get these, as you should be well aware. You’ll dive into various dungeons to collect the Furies, coming across monsters and treasure in your dungeon diving.

So far, Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force seems to be a magnificent update from the original game. The game runs smoothly and looks even more crisp on the PlayStation 4, and fans of the original cast will be able to have adventures with their characters again on the new generation of consoles. You can look forward to eating, sleeping, and Fury collecting when Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force releases on July 26th, 2016. Look for a full review then.
