Graphics and Sound
The graphics are a nice mix of polygon bugs and brilliant explosions, with a pinch of dynamic lens flare. The sound, however, is astounding. The background music is provided by The Crystal Method- in fact the whole "Vegas" CD is encoded into the game (with a few re-mixes). Turn the game music up in the options menu, and start blasting.
Gameplay
Old School shooting at it's best, with brilliant graphics and effects. Reminds me a little of Tempest or Gyruss. You spin around in a circle (although the game animates as though you are traveling through a tunnel) shooting CyberBugs and other obstacles, while picking up powerups to improve your firepower.
Difficulty Level
Very Good. The game starts out at an easy level, and each progressive level increases in difficulty. There is also an excellent tutorial that you can enable as you are playing.
Game Mechanics
Simple, yet effective: spin left or right as you shoot the enemies (or avoid them) while maneuvering to pick up bonuses and power ups. I must say, I had no interest in this game before I popped it into my PSX. I think the most impressive thing about the game is the Crystal Method soundtrack- it's simply incredible, and works perfectly with the game. It's infectious, and once you've got those techno tunes in your head, you'll never get them out. Even if you're not a big Shooter-Genre fan (like myself) you owe it to yourself to at least check N2O out.
