These happiest moments range from several firsts like SpongeBob's first meeting with Sandy, or their first visit to Muscle Beach or their first encounter with the retired superhero duo, Mermaidman and Barnacle Boy. While every episode in this collection isn't a first appearance, the others included are generally accepted as some of the best the series has to offer.
One episode I particularly enjoyed was "The Algae's Always Greener" where Plankton tries yet again to steel a Krabby Patty, and once again fails, but instead of wallowing in self-loathing, he changes history and switches places with Mr. Krabs. He is amazed to find himself in what he believes to be the perfect life, and maybe, just maybe, he can finally taste a Krabby Patty. Only after a full episode of dealing with Spongebob, Squidward, and the turmoils of making business decisions does he realize how much he liked his old life.
Another classic episode is "Just One Bite" where SpongeBob finds out Sqiudward has never tried a Krabby Patty. When he finally gets the glum co-worker to taste it, Squidward insists he still doesn't like the burgers, thus crushing SpongeBob's belief that no one who has tried the Krabby Patty could possibly dislike it. Much to Squidward's chagrin though, as soon as SpongeBob leaves the scene, he begins obsessing over the burgers and does whatever he can to have just another bite, but of course, he can't let SpongeBob know.
Of course, none of these compare to my all-time favorite, "Graveyard Shift." Here Mr. Krabs realizes that he could make even more money if they are open 24 hours a day. When the shift starts to slow down, but SpongeBob is just as hyped about working at night, Squidward decides to have a little fun and tells SpongeBob a tale of a former fry cook who haunts the store at night, the Hash Slinging Slasher.
A special treat on SpongeBob SquarePants: 10 Happiest Moments is the episode "Christmas Who?" I hadn't previously seen this Christmas Special that is bookmarked by Patchy, the live-action pirate who is featured in the show's opening theme song. This episode is about Bikini Bottom's first Christmas when Sandy tells SpongeBob all about the holiday and Santa Claus.
The compilation comes with an additional bonus episode. "Help Wanted," the series' pilot, shows SpongeBob walking into the Krabby Patty looking for employment in his dream job. Of course, with Squidward working there, the depressed character tries to convince Mr. Krabs to not hire the boy, but when several buses of anchovies show up all wanting food immediately, it's SpongeBob's desire to work that not only saves the day, but seals his new position as fry cook.
SpongeBob SquarePants: 10 Happiest Moments is a pretty solid collection of SpongeBob episodes. Pretty much every major character has a show focusing on him or her (even Patrick does in the theme park themed episode "Roller Cowards"), and every one included is a great cross-section of what the show has been doing for years. 10 Happiest Moments is just a solid collection for any fan of the show, though there isn't really any additional value if you already own these episodes in various other boxed sets, especially since the only special feature is another episode.
