iCarly: Season 2, Volume 2 features two discs packed with ten episodes as well as two iCarly movies, "iFight Shelby Marx" and "iDate a Bad Boy." Although the episodes can be watched in any order, there are a few subtle throwbacks to previous episodes. Though nothing vital to the plot, once or twice you might see a character dating someone in one episode, then show up single in another without explanation. Again, it's a small complaint but not a major issue.
Although I tend to skip over iCarly when I see it on my channel guide, I'd be lying if I said I've never stopped and watched an episode from time-to-time. In general, the show is enjoyable and good for at least one laugh, even if you're laughing at the ridiculous situations the show's writers were able to come up with for plots.
One of the best examples is "iTake on Dingo." After the girls find out the Dingo Channel is stealing their ideas, the gang goes to Los Angeles to confront the channel's writers. This involves a stop at a shady hotel (complete with its own live-in bum) and an elaborate plan to break into the studios and take on the writers - including stealing the frozen head of the Dingo Channel's founder. In "iGo Nuclear," Carly stumbles upon a bit of uranium and builds a nuclear powered scooter.
As ridiculous as some of the plots get, the characters' reactions are more down to Earth. Everyone has a flaw and its fun to see how those flaws play through each episode. Most still have some basis of truth or relatable issue - such as bullying or being yourself.
Extras are short (no more than 10 minutes total), but most of the kids I know aren't the "extras" type. Still, the extras are good for what they are. Two focus on certain aspects of each episode. One looks at the lookalikes used in the episode "iLook Alike" and another features an interview with two characters. In the final two, the cast takes viewers on a tour of the set.
As "out there" as some plots get, they're all in clean fun. Adults may roll their eyes, but kids will love it. iCarly is a "love it, or leave it" sort of DVD, but if your kids are fans of the show, this is a great value.
