Previously on The Walking Dead:
In the previous four episodes, leading man Lee Everett went from riding in the back seat of a patrol car on his way to jail, to becoming the guardian of a scared little girl who was in wait for her family in the travesty of the undead outbreak taking over the world. Along his journey, Lee has come across all manner of people and has had to make many life-changing decisions for both himself and Clementine, as well as those around them and those they came across in their search for salvation.

Going through a whirlwind of emotions in the past four episodes, Lee has had to decide who to side with and who to leave behind. His actions have had some side effects that have either hurt or helped relationships, and that have saved or cost lives. Facing a gigantic decision to divulge the fact that he was bitten to his group members in Episode 4 – Around Every Corner, the repercussions await. All of these emotions and attachments to characters are about to play out as we enter the final chapter, The Walking Dead: Episode 5 – No Time Left

No Time Left:
Using a vacant house as their new hub after leaving the inn, Lee Everett and his crew have a decision to make when Clementine, always in search of her parents, goes missing. Of course, playing as Lee you can’t bear to think that Clem is out there somewhere, alive. Kidnapped by a stranger she was talking to over the radio, Lee and Kenny make plans to find and save Clem, then hop on a boat and leave the zombie apocalypse in their wake.

Depending on what you’ve told your group about your accident at the end of Episode 4, you, (and potentially) Kenny, and Ben end up in a basement morgue with zombies crawling everywhere outside the upper windows of the room. As the realization of the bite sets in, so do the blackouts and ever-important decisions that begin to plague Lee’s consciousness.

Setting out on their missions, tragedy soon strikes the team – it wouldn’t be The Walking Dead without it, of course – and emotions will once again be pulled in every direction possible. With this, comes Lee’s revelation to use his every breath in finding Clementine and rescuing her from the stranger.

Without giving too much away, it should be known that some important decisions will be made, and that The Walking Dead: Episode 5 – No Time Left is a definitive final cap in this outstanding episodic series from Telltale Games.

Final Notes on the Season:
Throughout the season, the impressively simple comic book style graphics have really helped this game feel like you are playing through a graphic novel or interactive animated movie. There have been some noticeable glitches and lower-resolution textures present, but nothing that has ever detracted from the game without actively looking for issues. Likewise, there have sometimes been audio glitches or longer than normal pauses between dialogue interactions, but the story still wins out and makes it worth putting up with a few anomalies.

While the moments and decisions in this story-driven interactive series that have branched and more or less always returned to a similar linear path, the overall playability of the series has been impressive and immersive. Even more so than the physical controls, the emotional attachment that has resulted from the ups and downs of the characters comes to a head in this final chapter of a very well defined five-part download. In short, if you haven’t been along for the ride up to this point, picking up all five episodes worth every penny.

Next Time on The Walking Dead:
The only major problem that I have with The Walking Dead episodic is that it came to an end. But like every form of entertainment out there with a great story, the developers at Telltale Games have left me wanting more…

…and if you stick it out through the credits, you may just see the cliffhanger that (hopefully) leads to just that.
