Dual Shock controller? Nyko?s
Viper has a very similar feel. The
Viper is a little bit larger, giving you a slight ?grip? advantage, but the layout is functionally about the same. The turbo button is placed within easy reach, but out of the way of the other buttons. Basically, there?s not much of a learning curve if you?ve been using another Dual Shock compatible PlayStation controller.
I find it impossible to review the Viper without comparing it to another one of my favorite PSX controllers, the Nyko Scorpion. For the Scorpion, Nyko threw convention out the window and made a unique design that worked well and felt good in the hands. Perhaps the design was too ?out there? for some. Enter the Nyko Viper. Shaped in a much more conventional manner and cast in translucent plastic, the Viper is very ?cool? without being too unfamiliar. I still think the Nyko Scorpion is an excellent controller. However, if you prefer to stick with more familiar, conventional shaped controllers and don?t want to ?learn? a new grip, the Nyko Viper was made for you.
