PSP Mobile Pro
Score: 89%
Developer: Mad Catz
Device Type: Multi

Function:

?After contemplating the coldness of the aluminum briefcase before him, he carefully unlocks and unlatches the clasps of the case. He then opens the case gingerly, yet silently, letting his fingers glide just above the expensive hardware contained within. The case contains a multitude of hi-tech items that combine together to form a single unit, all performing together in harmony. He grins to himself. His fingers know just where to find each part, snugly sunken into the foam rubber interior of the case. Some say it?s training, others say he?s a natural. He?d tell you that none of that matters. He?s a Pro. It?s what he does...?

Okay, so I?m not much of a novelist. However, the PSP Mobile Pro?s aluminum case may have you waxing Metal Gear Solid. Inside the aluminum case, you?ll find 23 of Mad Catz? PSP products designed to keep your PSP powered and protected, and to enhance your PSP experience.

Performance:

If you?re looking for storage, you?ve found it. Mad Catz? PSP Mobile Pro has an aluminum case that has a custom-fitted spot for each of the accessories contained within. The aluminum case also has two locking latches that hold the aluminum briefcase closed snugly, two keys for the locks, and rings on the sides for use with the included strap.

Inside of the aluminum briefcase, you?ll find 12 UMD cases, perfect for storing your favorite games or movies. There?s also a Fitted Case for your PSP. This Fitted Case can be attached to your belt, has a fairly strong front and back panel that are held together by stretchy elastic sides, and is closed at the top by a Velcro strap. This offers your PSP pretty decent protection against minor bumps and scratches, but due to the elastic used in the Fitted Case, you can use it in conjunction with many of the hard screen covers designed for the PSP. Even if you don?t use one of those, you can help to further protect your PSP?s screen with the four included Screen Protector plastic films. These removable sheets of plastic protect your PSP from minor scratches and dings.

As for the power side of things, PSP Mobile Pro has you covered. There?s a replacement AC Adapter included. (This also serves as a handy spare. Now you can have one at home and one at the office, etc.) Additionally, you get a Car Adapter, so you can still charge and/or enjoy your PSP if you?re not at home. This is excellent for those extended road trips. Finally, if you get into a situation where you don?t have any access to an AC outlet or a DC outlet, you can run your PSP off of three AAA batteries with the included Battery Pack.

In addition, you get a pair of Headphones, just in case you?re not the biggest fan of ear buds, and a PSP USB Link Cable to allow you to share files between your PSP and PC. You also get a squeegee and cleaning cloth, great for keeping your PSP?s screen clean and applying the Screen Protectors.

Drawbacks & Problems::

In general, this is a nice starter combo pack. There are, however, a couple of considerations.

First, a word of advice regarding the Battery Pack: if you plan to use this, please invest in some rechargeable AAA batteries. It may seem expensive in the beginning, but in the long run, rechargeable batteries will not only be better for the environment, but cheaper for you as well.

And the big detractor for the PSP Mobile Pro? The Aluminum case has a clear plastic front. This might make it easier to showcase the included items in a store and may make it less suspicious to teachers and airport security personnel, but it broadcasts what you?re carrying (read ?Rob me!?) and detracts from the cool ?Secret Agent? flair it would otherwise have carried off nicely. What you end up with is a case that?s nice for storing your PSP stuff at the house and, perhaps, keeping your brother from playing with your stuff, but it?s not a very good idea for traveling. Sadly, the difference between a sheet of aluminum and a sheet of plastic is the difference between the PSP Mobile Pro and a perfect score.
