SeeThru - iPhone 3G
Score: 95%
Developer: Speck
Device Type: Accessory

Function:

Speck's SeeThru is a translucent hardshell casing designed to provide protection to your iPhone 3G without sacrificing the size or feel.

Performance:

The SeeThru is a great hardshell case for the iPhone 3G. When I first took it out of the packaging, I was taken back a bit by what seemed to be a flimsy plastic shell, but after installing it easily onto my iPhone, I found that the fit was great and the color outstanding. SeeThru comes as two separate pieces which slide over the phone from the ends and snap together in the middle. It fits securely in place, with no evident play between the phone and case. All of the buttons are easily accessible. The rubberized grips on either side are a nice addition and improved my sense of security when holding the phone quite a bit.

The bottom portion of the SeeThru slides off without any problem for docking the phone and can be used as a stand to hold the iPhone horizontally. To be honest, I did not know about this feature until I looked the product up online and it is something that I see having very limited usage, but hey, it's just another feature.

Overall, this case has been very reliable and has garnered a fair share of "Oohs and Aahs" from friends who all thought that the color and design were top-notch.

  • Available in 5 Colors and Clear

  • Light-weight

Drawbacks & Problems::

I found very little in regards to drawbacks and problems with the SeeThru. The flimsiness of the plastic was initially a concern, but once on the phone, it becomes inconsequential. The back of the case does show some signs of scuffing, but that is to be expected. The rubberized grips started to peel off when I attempted to use the SeeThru in conjunction with another Speck product, the SwitchWay (a belt case with both vertical and horizontal access), but only when using it vertically. I had no issues using it horizontally, in fact it worked quite well in that position, and the grips re-adhered easily without any need for glue.
