Function:

When you're really dedicated to a game, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops II, you find yourself sitting for hours on end, staring at a monitor or television. Long periods of staring at video displays can cause eyestrain. What to do? Grab a pair of glasses designed to help minimize the effects of glare and rock on 'til the wee hours of the morning. (What did you think I was going to suggest? Playing less?)

Performance:

One thing I noticed readily with a large LG widescreen television was that, when I put the Call of Duty: Black Ops II Gaming Glasses on, I saw the scan lines on the television. Without the glasses, large areas of white on a title screen seemed to be solid, but when I used the glasses, I could see the individual lines of white that made up the areas. For general viewing, it would be more pleasant to have the blurring effect, probably, but when you're trying to aim at a very specific location, it helps to be able to accurately see the pixels at which you're trying to aim. Just sayin'.

I tried out the Call of Duty: Black Ops II Gaming Glasses while working at a computer for a couple of days, to see if I noticed a reduction in eye strain. It did seem a bit more pleasant, in general, but I didn't notice an extreme difference at the end of the day, one way or the other. I should note, however, that while I do sit in front of computer screens all day, I have taken steps to reduce glare and eyestrain already, so others may notice a larger reduction in eyestrain when using the glasses.

Drawbacks & Problems::

Each person is different, I realize, and whether this is counted as a positive or a negative depends on the person, of course, but when I tried these out, friends who saw me wearing the Call of Duty: Black Ops II Gaming Glasses thought I was going "hipster." Admittedly, they do have a bit of a "retro" feel to them, which works with some of the time periods covered in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The most amusing aspect of this is that the frames are the exact same frame design as the Call of Duty: Black Ops II 3D Gaming Glasses, but no one thought that the 3D glasses had a "hipster" feel to them. The only difference between these glasses are the lenses, so somehow the amber-colored lenses lend themselves to a hipster vibe, whereas the lightly tinted lenses don't.
