The gaming world lost a friend today as Different Strokes star Gary Coleman passed away at 42 years old, as a result of a brain hemmorhage. He's been a staple at E3 for so long now that I can't remember attending one without at least one sighting of him. Whether it's going to see friends at their booths and having their fellow developers totally forget to pass on my message because Gary Coleman stopped in right before me and "glamoured" them so completely that they totally blanked out, or having to wait to get a drink at the Sony party bar because a child was in front of me getting his swerve on, only to realize it was, once again, Gary. It became a bit of a running gag with the folks I attend E3 with, since Gary was always everywhere I wanted to be... just there first. Even at Johnny Rocket's for crying out loud!

From this imagined rivalry, sprung several references to Gary Coleman, often toungue-in-cheek, always in loving jest, but all joking aside, Gary loved video games and the industry that creates them and he will be deeply and dearly missed- especially this close to E3. I will miss seeing him there.

Rest in Peace Gary... and game-on in some better place.
