10 Reasons I'm Excited for E3: Part 2
Company: GameVortex.com
Product: E3 2011
E3 2011 is only few weeks away. We're already starting to feel the pressure and excitement building towards this year's show. With two major system announcements coming from Nintendo and Sony, as well as a number of big name titles planned, this should be one of the most exciting E3's in recent memory.

Last week, I introduced the first five games on my most anticipated list, and now I give you the last five.

Mass Effect 3
Xbox 360/ PS3/ PC - BioWare (Electronic Arts)

Of all the games on this list, I may end up skipping out on the Mass Effect 3 presentation. I am a devotee of the series and have it in my head that I want to remain as in the dark as possible with the third game. Fat chance of that happening, but I at least deserve a few Paragon points for trying, right?

Mass Effect 3 wraps up Commander Shepard's adventure through the game's universe. After the events of The Arrival (the final DLC pack for Mass Effect 2), Earth is finally in the sights of the Reapers. Shepard eventually escapes with the intent of forming a new team to combat the Reapers and Cerberus.

The game should follow the same pattern as previous games, though gameplay will trend more towards the 3rd-person shooter aspects introduced in Mass Effect 2. The switch removes class-specific weapon restrictions and brings back the option of customizing weapons. Several characters from previous games will return, though not all will be playable. Thankfully, the party size won't be nearly as large as Mass Effect 2, so you'll be able to spend more time developing better relationships with teammates. I'm a nut for this sort of thing so, at least in my opinion, the fewer the better.

Again, there's little to no chance I'll manage to stay away from Mass Effect 3 on the show floor, but I'll make sure to cover my ears at least once during the presentation.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations
Xbox 360/ PS3 - UbiSoft (UbiSoft)

I'm not even going to pretend to try and keep myself in the dark in regards to Assassin's Creed: Revelations. If the series has taught me anything over the last few years, its that no matter what UbiSoft shows at E3, I'll still find hours worth of surprises.

Similar to Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, AC: Revelations is more of a side-story than a full-blown sequel. The story continues Ezio's quest, but will link his story to Altaïr, the series' original protagonist. Revelations will take a much older Ezio to Constantinople (before it got the works, apparently) as he hunts down the Templar order. Although you play as Ezio throughout most of the adventure, Revelations adds a neat "Animus inside the Animus" styled mechanic. While Desmond relives Ezio's life through the Animus, Ezio will interact with items that allow him to relive Altaïr's life. I can't wait to see how UbiSoft pulls off the mechanic.

Ezio will get a couple of cool new toys, including a grappling hook that fits into his wrist-blade. What I'm really interested in seeing is improvements to the Assassin Guilds. Brotherhood did an okay job with introducing the concept, though I hope it offers a little more than static missions and an extra quick-kill ability.

Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword
Wii(??) - Nintendo EAD (Nintendo)

I'll admit that this one is a bit of a cheat. I spent some hands-on time with Skyward Sword last year, and already know it is a day one purchase. However, not knowing exactly when "day one" is does have me a bit on edge. I'm live-blogging the Nintendo Press Conference this year, so hopefully we'll finally get a date. Yet, with Nintendo's new "HD Wii" (codenamed Project Café) on the horizon, I'm a little worried that Skyward Sword might pull a "Twilight Princess" and jump to the new system's launch window. While I'm interested in whatever Nintendo has in store with its new system, I'm not sure if I want to buy a new system just yet - even if it means missing out on the next entry in one my of favorite franchises.

Tune in for our live blog and we'll find out together.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
Xbox 360/ PS3- Relic (THQ)

I'll admit, I know next to nothing about Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine other than it takes the RTS system into action territory. The game showed up at E3 two years ago, and the only reason I knew about it was because a few staffers told me about it over dinner. I had hoped to see it last year, but other than a trailer, the game was a no-show in THQ's booth.

Still, I am a massive Warhammer nut, so anything attached to the tabletop franchise has my attention. What I do know has me excited. You'll play as a the leader of a group of Space Marines, badass soldiers with armor literally grafted to their bodies, sent to check out an Orc raid on one of the Empire's huge factory planets. From there, it's all about bolt guns, chainsaw swords and lots of dead Orcs.

My last slot is another cheat. It's not one game, or even a well-known series. I'm really interested in seeing the impact both social and mobile games have on this year's E3. Both have always had a presence, especially last year when both Konami and Square Enix had sections of their booth dedicated to Mobile titles. After a year of companies like EA and Disney grabbing Social Games developers, I expect to see a bigger presence at this year's show. I already expect Disney to show off a mass slate of social games, though it should be interesting to see how many other companies make a big push.

And there you have it... the end of the list. Be sure to keep your browser pointed at both Game Vortex and PlayStation Illustrated for our annual E3 coverage. We'll have a few announcements in the coming week about when and where to check out our live Press Conference feeds. As always, you can catch me on Twitter and let us know what you're looking forward to.
