Blockbuster Sequels in IMAX 3D

IMAX Corporation and their partners have announced that a couple of hotly anticipated sequels would feature sequences shot in the immersive IMAX 3D format.

Paramount has announced that the sequel to J.J. Abrams' 2009 blockbuster Star Trek will be released in the immersive IMAX 3D format on May 17, 2013. Lionsgate announced that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the second film in the wildly popular franchise, will also be released in the immersive IMAX format on November 22, 2013. Helping to further eventize this cultural phenomenon and transport moviegoers into the world of Panem, director Francis Lawrence will utilize IMAX cameras in filming portions of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Exclusively in IMAX, sequences shot with the extremely high-resolution cameras will expand to fill the entire screen and further immerse the audience in the vast dimension and adventure of these highly-anticipated sequels.
