SWAP Force builds upon the success of the franchise's signature gameplay with an all-new innovative play pattern - swapability - that gives kids more choice than ever before by letting them swap the top and bottom halves of the toys to create their own characters. The game lets Portal Masters reconfigure 16 SWAP Force characters into 256 unique combinations. It seems that, for the most part, the top half of each SWAP Force figure determines the character's powers, while the bottom half determines the character's type of movement, allowing players to match up the powers and movement type they need for a given situation. However, it is worth pointing out that some powers (such as the stink cloud power of Stink Bomb) appear to be tied to the bottom half, if the Teaser Trailer (embedded below) is any indication.
Fans of the franchise will also be able to play Skylanders SWAP Force with their entire collection of characters from both Skylanders Spyro's Adventure and Skylanders Giants and, in SWAP Force, these characters will have the added capability of jumping, something sorely missed in the previous games.
