Step Right Up! Play a Demo, Win a Prize! Company: SCEA Product: LocoRoco Rewards Program In an interesting marketing move, Sony has announced a special limited time offer for those trying out LocoRoco. Now through August 19th, PSP owners who download, play completely through "LocoRoco Download Demo 1.01" and successfully save enough LocoRoco will receive a password in the upper right hand corner of the final screen. This password can be redeemed on the PlayStation website at http://www.us.playstation.com/Site.aspx?id=152 from their PSP to be awarded prizes, such as new sound files and exclusive wallpaper files. The prizes will vary, based on how well you do in the demo. This is an interesting move on Sony's part; perhaps interactive media needs a more interactive form of marketing. It's too soon to praise or attack this move at this point, but even if this marketing plan comes out feeling a bit over the top, I should point out that the game seems genuinely good. I played the E3 demo of LocoRoco at the Sony Press Conference and found it to be a nice platformer with some very interesting control mechanics and addictive gameplay. So, while this hullabaloo might not be necessary to sell LocoRoco, you at least stand a good chance of actually enjoying your way through the demo.
