World War II: Frontline Command: Frontline Command Preview
Company: Strategy First

Strategy First is unleashing yet another strategy game upon the market, but this time, not in the same vein as what has previously been seen. Perhaps the recent popularity of non-resource based strategy games has helped in their decision making. But whatever the reason, you can be sure that the veteran strategy makers will deliver the goods.

WWII: Frontline Command is, as the name implies, a strategy game based during the height of the second World War. This game gives the player control over both Axis and Allied forces in squad-based strategy combat. Soldiers come in groups, not as single units, and are given orders as a whole. Other units will include tanks, large guns, and airplane strikes.

The 3D graphics in Frontline Command are looking smooth, and deliver accurate weather effects and terrain scarring. The graphics not only give way to a ?Line of Sight? feature, where all units will react to any enemy they see, but also a ?Hearing? system. If your guys hear a rustle of leaves from the other side of a fence, they will let you know about it. Another excellent feature in Frontline Command is the morale system which will determine the overall mental attitude of your soldiers, depending on how you, as the commanding officer, issue orders during battle. Perform poorly, and your troops will do the same when they lose faith in your commanding skills.

On top of it all is a highly developed A.I. system, one that is not centered on destroying the player within the first few minutes of gameplay. Instead, your enemies will use actual combat tactics, like tactical retreats and flanking maneuvers. No longer will one enemy soldier try to fend off half a dozen tanks. These key features in Frontline Command are all coming together nicely, and look as if they will ultimately form into one kick ass combat game.
