GI Combat: GI Combat Preview
Company: Strategy First

From the creators of Close Combat comes a new RTS that promises to redefine simulated WWII combat as we know it. GI Combat is a fully 3D representation of what it was like to fight in Europe during the campaigns of 1944. The full version of the game will give you the option of taking German or American troops through a number of dynamic campaigns in frantic squad based combat.

GI Combat promises to be the most realistic version of war in the European theater ever to be found on a home computer. A psychological system has been incorporated into the game that determines the mind set of each soldier, which will dictate his actions more than your orders sometimes. This is definitely a feature to look forward to, as it will bring AI to a new level, if it is done well.

Your troops won't be going into the fray alone, though. Promised to be included in the final version is an affluent amount of weapons and vehicles. The preview only had a handful of troop types and a couple of vehicles working, but the final list is absolutely huge.

And to finish off the realistic touch, the designers have created a very intricate physics model that takes into account over 40 different data entries for each weapon, including ballistics, rate of fire, and armor penetration, to name a few. The specs that the developers have shown us looks like a wish list from every RTS fan, and even if only half the list is met, GI Combat looks like it could turn out to be a must have.
