Graphics & Sound:
Graphically, there’s only so much one can do with cubes, ahem, I mean qubes. The creators of Intelligent Qubes did an excellent job with the finishes and textures of the blocks. All in all, pretty decent for a puzzle game. As for the sound, it’s very deep, with an almost orchestral quality. At different times, I felt as though I was in a movie theater. Is it a coincidence that the music was reminiscent of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” when the blocks were sand textured? A nifty tie-in... I will say the voices of the characters are a bit lame, though. But I guess that’s a common video game trend.

Gameplay:
At first, your character is Elliot. You have your choice of 1- or 2-player mode and your choice of block textures. Be forewarned: the different textures are cool, but can be distracting. If you’re good enough to beat the first eight levels and the Final Stage, save it to your memory card. Then, on your next game, you can choose between Elliot and Cynthia. Maybe it was me, but Cynthia seemed to run faster. Another perk of beating Intelligent Qubes -- you can design your own levels using “Original” mode. I don’t have the patience for this, but you should have heard the oooh’s and ahhh’s coming from Geck0. Overall, it’s a fairly decent puzzle game and it seems that these type games are becoming scarcer. I recommend it for a quiet evening at home; good stress relief.

Difficulty:
Not extremely tough. Intelligent Qubes is fun and challenging, though; especially if your goal is to solve the puzzle in under the number of allotted turns. Of course, as you progress in the game, you lose interest in getting a really high I.Q. and just focus on living to the next level.

Game Mechanics:
Basically, you are presented with a group of blocks in Intelligent Qubes which you must eliminate to progress. The X button marks the block and the Triangle makes the block vanish. If you mark a black (forbidden) block, then you lose a row of the blocks you are standing on. This can get pretty hairy if you make too many mistakes. The good part -- there are special green blocks. When you mark them, they make each block touching them disappear when they do. Forethought and strategy increase your I.Q. (a combination of points, skill and your ability to progress).

DO NOT TRY THIS GAME WITH THE GLOVE!
