The graphics in Pro Pinball: Timeshock! are so realistic that you feel as though you are looking down at an actual pinball table. The background music is also very well done, and blends well with the game.

This game is great for those who just want to jump in and play or for those who like the challenge of skilled target practice. These days, every pinball game has a “story.” In Pro Pinball, time has crystallized and fragmented. You have to accomplish certain goals to find the four missing crystal fragments of time to save the past from being erased. OK. The plot’s a little lame, but it’s pinball.

All of the standard pinball fare is present: multiple ball playing, target practice, etc. The flippers are very responsive -- not too loose, not too tight, and the gameplay is fast and furious. It’s got all of the components of that ideal game you’ll spend those long winter nights by the fire with.

I won’t sugar-coat it. Pro Pinball: Timeshock! is tough. But that’s the name of the game for pinball. You can choose Novice or Regular, and as I said earlier, opt for mindless pinball play or try for super high scores by winning the game. It’s up to you.

One thing I thought was really lacking was Dual Shock compatibility. With a name like Timeshock!, you’d expect it to be there. It would be SOOO cool to be able to feel the tilt and the thump of the flippers. Oh well, maybe the next Pro Pinball edition. One notable feature was the amber LED screen across the top of the table. Along with a woman’s voice, it will instruct you on certain parts of the game. As you’re sent to different points in time, battles may occur and will be visible in the screen. How you play determines, for instance, if your robot defeats the opponent robot. Just like in actual modern pinball machines, it’s a novel and cool feature, yet it is sometimes distracting.
