If you haven't seen the movie 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams, I highly recommend you watch it before going out and randomly buying the soundtrack. It'll give you the best idea as to whether or not you want the soundtrack, plus it's an awesome movie.
All the songs and sound bites on the Soundtrack are in the order that you find them in the movie as well, which is good. It's almost like you can get a partial sound-only version of the movie with the soundtrack. The sound bites are alternated with the music as well. There are a total of 20 sound bites, 19 songs, and 11 scores. The scores are after the music/sound bites. All the scores of course are purely instrumental. Listening to them, on a few you'll wonder where they were in the movie since I just don't remember anything that tame or classical sounding in the movie, but I'm sure they were background music.
The music on the 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams is quite eclectic. You get a few songs with a definite classic country twang, like the theme song from the previous movie "The South's Gonna Rise Again." Then there are songs like "Nottie Hottie" by Me and My Friends and "All Up In My Candy" by Sean Avolio that are pure pop. Even more there are heavier almost punk songs like "Redneck Zombies" by Psycho Charger. As you can tell, you get a wide variety of songs, almost all of which are guaranteed to amuse and possibly offend. But I warn you, some of them will get stuck in your head! I have had "Lord Let Me Help You Decide" sung by Mayor Buckman (Bill Moseley) himself stuck in my head for well over a week now. Just to give you an idea of what it's about, the song opens with "Lord let me help you decide/Who on earth should live and who should die." I'm sure you can guess where it goes from there. One note though, if you're looking for it based on the liner notes, it is swapped with another song. "Lord Let Me Help You Decide" is actually track #38 and "The South Will Rise (Field of Screams)" is actually track #36. Just for those of you who really wanted the sound bite when you saw the movie of Mayor Buckman's line "Suck My Dixie" (I can think of several people I know who would love to use that as a ring tone), that sound bite closes out the soundtrack perfectly.
If you're looking to expand your 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams experience, then I highly recommend the 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams soundtrack. It is quite an eclectic collection of music, but I've enjoyed it. Just remember that it is as graphic and offensive as the movie, so I don't recommend playing it around your children (or letting your parents hear what you're listening to!).
